Broojerdi Sand and Gravel Complex
Location of the Mine
Shahid Broojerdi Sand Complex is located in the
southwest of Tehran City, near Azadegan Highway, on the first kilometer of
Ahmad Abad Mostofi Road. The Complex extends on an area of 88 hectares so it is
considered as one of the biggest mines supplying sand throughout Tehran
Province.
Geological Characteristics of the Mine
This Quarry is situated on the land covered with
alluvial deposits, river terraces and alluvial fans, lying with unconformity at
the slope of less than 15 degrees on conglomerates and sandstones of the Hezar
Dareh formation or older units.
Quarry Products
Quarry extraction is done by means of bulldozers
and loaders and the extracted items are finally turned, along the production
line, into products including natural sand, pea manufactured gravel, medium
manufactured gravel, blown sand, boulder, manufactured natural sand and natural
gravel, all of which are found of high quality grades by quality tests which
are regularly carried out in quality control laboratory of the Complex.
The exploitation permit of the Complex allows a
capacity of 750,000 cube meters a year to be produced so this Complex supplies
a considerable part of construction materials demand of Tehran City and its
construction projects.
